Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information is collected when you use https://yopakistan.com (the “Site”), how it is used, and the choices you have. The headline: the Site itself has no database, no user accounts, and stores almost nothing about you directly.

1. Who we are

YoPakistan (“we”, “us”) operates a static content website at https://yopakistan.com providing practical guides for Pakistani youth on freelancing, studying abroad, exam preparation, and international payments. To contact us, see the About page or email [email protected].

2. The short version

The Site is built to collect as little as possible:

  • No database. The Site has no server-side database. Nothing you do on the Site is stored on our servers.
  • No accounts. There is no login or registration on the Site. We do not collect an email, name, or password from you to read articles.
  • No comments or uploads. There is no comment system and no file-upload capability on the Site. Discussion happens on our Discord community, which is governed by Discord’s Privacy Policy, not this one.

A few features do place data in your browser (see Section 4), and the third-party services we use (newsletter, contact form) do collect information you choose to give them (see Section 5).

3. Information we do not collect

Because the Site is a fully static export (pre-rendered HTML), it does not run server-side code that processes your input. We do not collect, store, or transmit: your IP address to our servers, your browsing history, your location, or any personal identifier — unless you voluntarily submit it through one of the third-party forms described below.

4. Information stored in your browser

The following are stored locally in your browser (via localStorage) and never sent to us:

  • Theme preference — whether you chose light or dark mode, so the Site remembers on your next visit.
  • Reading position — for articles you have started reading, the approximate scroll position is saved so we can offer a “Continue reading” option when you return. This is keyed per article and cleared if you dismiss it.

You can clear this data at any time via your browser’s settings (usually under “Site data” or “Cookies”).

5. Third-party services you may interact with

The Site integrates with managed third-party services. When you submit information to one of these, that information is governed by the relevant provider’s privacy policy, not this one.

  • Newsletter (Buttondown). If you subscribe to the newsletter using the signup form, your email address is collected and stored by Buttondown, our email provider. We use it only to send you the newsletter. See Buttondown’s Privacy Policy. You can unsubscribe via the link in any email.
  • Contact form (Formspree). If you send a message through the contact form on the About page, your name, email, and message are processed by Formspree and forwarded to us by email. See Formspree’s Privacy Policy.
  • Discord community. Our community lives on Discord. Joining it is subject to Discord’s terms and privacy policy, not ours.
  • Fonts. The Site loads web fonts from Google Fonts. Google may receive your IP address as part of that request.

6. Advertising

The Site may display advertising served by Google AdSense or other ad networks in the future. If and when advertising is enabled:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting aboutads.info.

7. Analytics

The Site may use a privacy-respecting analytics provider (such as Plausible or Umami) in the future to understand aggregate traffic. We will not use analytics that build profiles of individuals across other websites. If we add analytics, we will update this policy.

8. Children’s privacy

The Site is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted personal information to one of our third-party forms, please contact us and we will request its deletion from the relevant provider.

9. Your rights

Because the Site itself stores no personal data about you, most data-rights requests (access, deletion, correction) should be directed to the third-party service you submitted the data to (Buttondown or Formspree). Each has their own process. For anything we do hold (e.g., a newsletter subscriber record forwarded to us by Buttondown), email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days.

10. Security

The Site is served entirely over HTTPS with strict transport security (HSTS) enabled. It has no server-side input handling, no database, and no file-upload capability — a deliberate choice to minimize attack surface. The only server-side component is an optional OAuth proxy if the Decap CMS admin is configured with the GitHub backend (see the About page).

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be noted on the Site. Continued use of the Site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
