Quick Money versus Long term wealth creation

Many investors end up becoming traders in the stock market. Some in fact just start as traders which ideally they should avoid as they are ill-skilled for trading. In fact, calling trading a skill is not fair but since it requires substantial time devotion and dedication it can be leniently classified as a skill. The desire to become a trader is primarily driven from quick money. These traders buy and sell shares frequently and try to make money in the quickest possible time. These traders are not full time traders employed by the brokering firms but are investors with limited money but have a desire to make quick money.

On the other hand, there is another category known as investors. They believe in buy and hold strategy. They are very few in number because patience is a diminishing virtue in stock market as far as Indian investors are concerned. Becoming investor is not so easy. You need patience, ability to withstand volatility and understanding that long term investments is rewarding in most of the cases. Also investors need to be indifferent to bombarding of news and information by television channels and other forms of media once they selected a quality stock for investment. Short term losses also need to be overlooked.

So what is better making quick money or creating wealth on long term basis? The answer is very easy. It makes sense to become investor. In the stock market investor often tend to outperform traders especially if they have limited money at disposal. A trader may burn his finger and blame the market. An investor on the other hand can override all challenges.
