Male/Female Join PAF as a General Duty Pilot (GDP) Requirements/Qualification/Procedure
Quality of Equipment, quality of Aircraft and quality of men is the utmost importance of Pakistan Air force; The PAF is very much selective about choosing the right males and femaile for its selection. The selection in Pakistan Air force requires a set of highly advanced set of selection procedures which advances with a high standardized procedure of training, resulting in a rewarding career in the Pakistan Air force. Both males and females can apply for the courses. Some courses start in June and July and some courses selections start in October and November.
Joining Pakistan Air Force as a general duty pilot is one of the most daring and brave careers in life as PAF picks out one of the finest men and women in her country, The Pakistan air force known to be one of the best air forces in the World has acquired new era’s of Human skills and initiation, As our Quaid said about Pakistan Air force “second to none” surely it is and the men our air force chose are second to none as well.
Following are the selection requirements and procedures involved in Becoming a General Duty Pilot in the Pakistan Air Force.
Age Requirements: 16 to 22 years
Male/Female citizens of Pakistan. (Candidates with dual nationality will have to surrender their foreign nationality upon joining the course otherwise their candidates will be cancelled).
A Candidate must have obtained at least 50% marks in aggregate in any of the following:
- HSSC/FSC (Pre Engineering /Pre Medical)
- Senior Cambridge in five subjects and should have passed Physics and Math’s or Biology in “A” Level.
- Intermediate with Physics and any two of Math’s, Statistics, Biology and Computer Science. (Equivalence certificate in case of foreign qualified)
Marital Status: Unmarried Male/Female citizens of Pakistan.

Intelligence Test followed by Academic Test in Physics & English: Intelligence tests are followed after the registration; these tests are conducted in the selection centers followed by Physics and English academic tests
Preliminary Medical Examination and Interview at Selection Centre:
Medical examinations are held by a Medical officer of the PAF in selection centers, Medical examinations usually carry out Height,weight, eye sight and chest inflation tests with other important tests, Interviews are conducted by the Officer Commanding of the Selection centres and Psychologist officers.
Tests at ISSB:
After succeeding and going through medical and intelligence tests, the successful candidates are given a call by the ISSB and are brought over for a 5 day series of tests in Kohat, Gujranwala and Malir( Karachi) any location near to the address of the candidate.
Medical Examination at CMB:
Recommended candidates are then referred to CMB (Central Medical Board) after ISSB, these examinations are held in PAF Base Masroor and is a procedure taking almost 2 to 3 days.
Flying Aptitude Test:
After Recommended by the Medical Board, successful candidates are then scheduled for flying aptitude tests that is held at PAF I&S Centre, Karachi, The flying aptitude test is the most difficult step in becoming a GD pilot, as it acquires the reflex and concentration of candidates
After the above tests, Selected and successful candidates are then finally Selected in the order of merit by the Air Headquarters and are then sent to training at the PAF academy Risalpur where they have a three and a half years of studies up to BSc and basic flying training at PAF Academy, Risalpur.
On successful completion of training, the Aviation Cadets are commissioned in the GD (P) Branch of the PAF. [Courtesy 1]
Educational Qualification requirement for Pakistan Air Force

- GCE 'O' level in five subjects. Should have Physics, Mathematics Biology in 'A' level.
Candidates who have appeared / are appearing in FSc final examination may also apply provided they submit a certificate from the Head of Institution that they are likely to pass FSc examination in the prescribed grade i.e. 45% aggregate marks (Pre-Engineering/Pre-Medical). [Courtesy 2]
1.no.of questions=100,time given=35mins
60% nonverbal, 40% verbal
i.e 60q's non verb,40q's verbal
sequences,pattern rec0gnition,logical,age relation type,who is taller and who is shorter type(age relation),direction type east,west,north,south.
0k now you can see these type of questions given on various web sites,
2.verbal type questions
now these may include analogies,pick the odd one out,very very easy vocabulary.
the result is displayed on the spot at the time,pass or fail
instructions given there
how to activate the pc and to do test
now mostly people who take the test for the first time dont clear it so please please please please dont get dishearted.
Only 5 or 6 clear it among those in one batch .
Instruction given is jo nia hota chor dain .
For evey six months they conduct this test ok.
one should be very clear that there will be a pc(obviously ) with a white board piece pasted on the table,you r required to
do rough work on it with a white doard marker.
Strategy and doe's and donts
ok people u must be fully aware of the fact that the environment there will be quite differen then your home small cabins and two cabins on one bench,beware of your partner he will do stupid things like calculating in the air,waving his hand exectra so dont get disturbed just keep your mind totally on the test no matter what happens.
There will be a review question option but be ware it will only activate when youv done 70 questions,so is k chakker mai nai pernay ka kia mamu.
Super speed is required
you should be very very fast in doing q's ok try your best to complete 100 questions,
1.keep your speed 20secs/que,i.e twenty seconds per question.
2.practice very very hard,100 's of questions while preparing.
3.dont practice from the internet its a waste of time buy books like the ones for issb tests,paf intelligence tests type books are easily avalable in the market.
4.dont take the test for fun ofcourse that you can have on the internet ,be serious and prepare seriously ok.
5.practice with a timer or stop watch to compete this kind of test.
6.dont take toolong to think over a question so jo nai hora chorr dain ki strategy per amal bhe karen but not totally ( ).
Now another thing there will be no negative marking ok, i dont think that the score matters but may be it matters later on other steps ok.
the g.k test will have more time 45 to 50 minutes i guess.
100 questions al very easy some of g.k mostly of anglish grammer the prepositions type dont have mush info about it if any one else has then please do let me know on this forum [Courtesy 3]
